Welcome to 8th Grade CYO Basketball

Two practices scheduled for this week: 

Wednesday 10/10 at 8:15 p.m. in the Floral Park Memorial back gym;

Saturday 10/13 at 9:00 a.m. in the OLV gym.

Island Garden Schedule has been Revised

Island Garden has revised our summer league schedule as follows:

• Friday 7/20 - our opponent is now McDuffie (Diasparra must have been intimidated after our strong win last night)
• Friday 8/10 - game time changed to 6:00 p.m. (originally 7:00 p.m.)
• Sunday 8/19 - game time changed to 9:00 a.m. (originally 6:20 p.m.)

Welcome to summer ball!

 

Our team is registered for the summer league. Teams are grouped according to the Fall 2012 school year so the boys are in the 8th grade division! Our schedule is posted on the QFive Summer League at Island Garden page (link on the right).  From past experience, I remind everyone that the Island Garden schedules often change. If I receive word that it has been revised, this website will be updated with the latest schedule, team standings and news.

Basketball this Week (1/30-2/5)

Another exciting week of basketball ahead. We will have only one practice but three CYO games. At this point victories are crucial so that we remain in the running for the postseason.
Monday 1/30 - game 6:40 p.m. v Holy Spirit at Manor Oaks School in New Hyde Park

Tuesday 1/31 - practice 8:30 p.m. at FPBS (yes, this is a change of venue!)

Saturday 2/4 - game 8:45 p.m. v St. Agnes at Rockville Centre

Sunday 2/5 - game 1:15 p.m. v St. Vincents at OLV

Schedule 1/23-1/30

Great job by all the boys in blue this weekend to secure big wins! We will only have one practice this week because we have a mid-week game at Island Garden.


Tuesday 1/24 - practice 5pm at OLV
Wednesday 1/25 - game 7:20 p.m. at Island Garden
Sunday 1/29 - game 10:10 a.m. at Island Garden
Monday 1/30 - CYO game 6:30 p.m. (yes, a MONDAY night) at Manor Oaks School in New Hyde Park

For all concerned Giant fans, our game on Super Bowl Sunday is at 1:15 at OLV so we will be finished early allowing time for everyone to grab and huge plate of wings and park in front of a tv before the start of the game!

Basketball this week (1/18-1/22)

Island Garden has updated the game schedule (yes, again!) The latest version can be found on the link (IG Super League 2011-2012). Our schedule for the rest of this week is as follows:

     Thursday 1/19: Practice 8pm at OLV

     Saturday 1/21: CYO game against Corpus Christi at 1pm in Mineola

     Sunday 1/22: Island Garden game at 4:15 pm at Fundamental Sports Training
                         (Note revised start time--game originally scheduled for 2:05 pm)

Schedule This Week (1/9-1/15)

Great win yesterday against a tough (formerly undefeated) St. Boniface team. Great teamwork by all the boys. The schedule for this week:

 

1.  Tuesday night (1/10) at 8pm -- scrimmage at 8pm at OLV against Salvation Army. Fun fact--this team is team coached by the legendary Don Ryan who was Julius Erving's (Dr J!!!) first coach. Boys should wear their uniforms please. 
2. Thursday night (1/12) practice at 8pm at OLV.
3. Game Saturday (1/14) 7:30 pm at OLV versus St. Joseph's
